FAQ: SHR Hair Removal

SHR's is a new and most advanced technology use light and electric pulses to heat the hair follicle and destroy its roots without damaging the surrounding tissue or skin. By targeting the follicle, laser hair removal treatments inhibit any future hair growth.

1.What is Super Hair Removal (SHR) ?
SHR technology is newer and more effective than IPL hair removal. SHR causes minimal pain due to the cool touch laser hair removal methodology as compared to IPL. SHR can cover all parts of the body such as hair removal for face, arms, legs, underarms, etc. SHR causes less discomfort as compared to IPL hair removal. SHR is also suitable for all hair types and skin tones as compared to IPL, making it an effective means for permanent hair reduction.

2.How is SHR different from IPL?
When it comes to pain level, SHR hair removal falls somewhere between shaving (painless) and waxing (painful). It will usually use a cooling system to numb the area before and after the SHR treatment. It also gets progressively less painful as treatments continue and the hair becomes finer.

3. It shouldn’t be painful?
For your initial course of SHR Hair Removal treatment, we recommend approximately 6-10 treatments. Treatments are spaced at three weeks in the beginning. As hairs become lesser and finer, treatments will be spaced between four and five weeks. Please note that results differ between individuals, such as: Skin tone Hair color Thickness/ volume Individual hormones (or on medications) Treatment area Unlike darker hairs, red or blond hairs will need more sessions.

4. How frequently must a SHR be done?
SHR treatment is considered to be a safe treatment that is well-tolerated – there is still the risk of burns, redness and discoloration for some patients – although the likelihood is very low when done with experienced professionals. Adhering to a strict skincare routine to keep your skin protected and moisturized is the best way to minimize any side effects and maximize your treatment results!

5. Are there any potential side effects?

6. Is it a must to go through the entire treatment plan?
For SHR (Super Hair Removal) hair removal, it is typically recommended to complete the entire treatment plan for the best results. SHR is a gradual process that targets hair follicles during their active growth phase, and not all hairs are in this phase at the same time. Completing the full treatment plan, which usually consists of multiple sessions spaced a few weeks apart, ensures that all hairs are effectively treated as they cycle through their growth phases. Stopping the treatment prematurely may result in incomplete hair reduction, and maintenance sessions may be necessary to sustain the desired results over time. It's essential to follow your practitioner's recommendations for the most effective and lasting hair removal.

7. Is treatment expensive?

The cost of SHR (Super Hair Removal) hair removal treatment can vary significantly depending on several factors. The price typically depends on the area of the body being treated, the number of sessions required. It is important that the specialist you go to has a wealth of knowledge and experience on the laser itself. Our staff are specially trained to ensure that you get the most out of every treatment session, and never compromise on your results and safety.

8. Will my hairs ever grow back?

Actively growing hairs that have been treated with SHR will not grow back. However, hair follicles that were not in the active growth phase, will still need to be treated. It is not unusual to see fine hairs after initial treatments after a few years due to hormonal changes such as menopause, pregnancy or aging. Touch-up maintenance is recommended.

9.Do you treat pregnant women?

It is best to play it safe and avoid laser hair removal while you’re pregnant. There is no evidence to suggest that it is unsafe, but there have not been long-term studies to analyze the effect of the laser on an unborn child. To protect your unborn baby, wait until after you’ve given birth to begin laser hair removal treatment.

10.Can I get laser hair removal if I have a tattoo in the area I want treated?

We do not suggest treating the area a tattoo is on and will only treat around it. Lasers for hair removal work on the same basis like tattoo removal machines being attracted to darker pigments. treating over a tattoo with a laser used for hair removal may cause the tattoo ink pigments to shatter, resulting in lightening of tattoos and most likely burning/scarring over the tattoo.

11.How Do You Prepare for Laser Hair Removal?

To prepare for SHR hair removal, avoid plucking, waxing, and tanning for three weeks prior to your first treatment. Take a shower and shave right before your treatment, but don’t apply any lotions, moisturizers, or sunscreens to the skin.

12.Areas that SHR cannot be treated ?

Pregnant ladies, Scars, birthmark, mole, Sun burned skins, cuts, irritations, tanned skin, pimple/ acne skin, skin with allergies, dermatitis, eczema & etc. Waxed or plucked skin (need 3 weeks interval) Tattooed skin.
